I think a-NEAT-ah needs to explore Panachallenge more. She voted this #8, but "doesn't know what happened to her vote."

(At least she knows her way around a camera REALLY well!)

Again - thanks for all the comments. I'm so happy I was able to transmit the feeling of that bone chilling wind.

Neat: Happy you enjoy your visit. We are very lucky that many years ago, a green belt was thrown around the city by people who actually cared about the future. It has saved us from the continuous urban sprawl. Most of it is still in place providing a welcome respite of fresh air and open country. We also have a huge experimental farm inside the city providing similar relief. All of this green space has been under continuous attack from developers and one sided politicians ever since. Money and power has won over common sense and they are gradually being eroded.

It's interesting that you chose the Parliament Buildings to comment on. Most visitors feel the same way. Despite the efforts of leagues of overpriced architects, most of the other buildings here are instantly forgettable.

1 day ago I'm still frozen! Great shot. Pleased to see it was appreciated. (Neat is funny and definitely not from Ottawa!)

Haha yeah I was in Ottawa in October actually and I have heard how freezing cold it gets there :-) Lovely city you have by the way especially by Parliament Hill.

Thanks for the comments & votes.
For those who thought it was from johncomyn, that's a huge compliment.
Robert: I'll email you my choice of gloves as it's too long for here.
NEAT: Not to worry, I appreciate your comment.
Bernie: You are hitting a sore point. The area in the photo was covered with 2 miles (3.2Km) of ice a few years back. We've had several cycles of warming and cooling since that last ice age. The only difference is that now we have giant companies making a fortune out of 'global warming'. Remember how they forecast NY would be under water by now? Step right up folks, I have some snake oil to sell you LOL

Love the textures in the sand, (or is that snow) I thought it was a beach scene, funny should of looked harder.

I was sure this was in my faves, have no idea what happened to it. Congrats on top three.

Very nice capture, definitely conveys a feeling of cold. What a difference for us here, First part of winter has been one of the warmest & least snowy but on its way today.

Beautiful and VERY cold looking. Even though it is very hot here I feel the need of a cardigan just seeing it.

Great choice to use B&W to underline the frigid bleakness of this landscape.

Brrr! Great photo, it really conveys the frigidness. Your use of B&W really adds to the aura of cold, again great shot.

I like the composition & details in the foreground , contrasting against the featureless background, certainly captures a chilly scene well.

Nicely composed with beautiful tones. (I can't even imagine how cold this would be.)

Between this one and Frosty Dawn in the Main challenge (I assume the same maker) it is amazing that you have fingers and toes. Great shot and evokes the coldness of winter. Do you have a favorite pair of photographer gloves???

my money is on this belonging to johncomyn. The scene doesn't say anything out of the ordinary but the B&W white treatment is outstanding.
