Landscape number 5 for the year       ©2016 babysister
Panasonic DMC-GX7       14th place, 47 points
1/5000s, f7.1, ISO 200, 27mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, no flash

Post-Processing: Increased general exposure, graduated tool on clouds for lower exposure, and higher on field and bales. Cropped and unsharp mask.       Extra Info: My resolve is that by the end of the year I will have taken at least one landscape photo I am proud of.
This means managing to combine time of day, availability, fine weather with clouds. Something that is hard to do. Not to mention a suitable subject.

Framing was an issue with this scene. I knew I should have a foreground interest but couldn't and wouldn't jump the fence, so I had to use the fence as the foreground. Take it out and you will see that I mean. Finding country landscapes in the middle of an Australian summer will all be like this. Some of you had trouble with the colours. These are the colours of county summer Australia.
All comments have been taken on board in my search for the perfect landscape. All appreciated thank you.

A nice attempt, but I feel that the photo is lacking in detail. Perhaps the graduated tool has softened it?

I like it. It has the feel of Australia. I think I'd prefer the left hans side in a more minimalistic crop.

You'll get there! Colours are bugging me on this and the fence is distracting. Keep at it and you will get better. Also having a point of interest in the foreground helps.

and frame it as large as possible on your wall
like this, the bales and the small house on the ridge

Hope they get the hay in before the rain. You might consider getting closer to the fence and shooting over it.

Thank for the helpful advice Steve, and also to Anthony for your nice comment.

I appreciate your intentions in using the graduated filter. I think it's a little unnatural looking and has been taken too far in both exposure directions. I think you may want to try to set a narrower transition zone too around the horizon.

Definitely good work here. Your effort has paid off. The bottom right distracts slightly from the angle your were going for. Well done.
