Did a lot of walking around that area... Decent capture of these building shadows, pity we couldn't meet up. Congratulation on your top ten finish!

Thank-you for all of the comments and critiques. No one is mistaken. One of the shadows projecting onto Lake Michigan is indeed the John Hancock Building and this image was captured on the 54 floor of that building. The “penthouse” in the center is the Drake Tower and part of the venerable Drake Hotel in Chicago. The beach is the Oak Street Beach, which is part of the Gold Coast.

Good photo. Weak resolution. Still I like it.

Nice point of view, I'm just looking for a bit more in the foreground.

edit - also think more contrast could lift this.

The strange bright edge effect around the shadow is a little bothersome, but other than that I love the composition. I also have an appreciation for this shoreline and building shadows, recently being to Chicago... If I am not mistaken this is the beach of the "Gold Coast"?

I like the angle you have chosen to show the shadows - it makes for an interesting view.

WOW! You must have been high up. I can think of nowhere in my country where you could get such a scene. Those shadows must really annoy the sun bathers ;-) . GL.

would like to see the colour one
the blacks are not dark enough and I think the title needed expansion to get the resolution across

My guess is that is Chicago looking over the Lake Michigan shoreline & thinking this was taken from above in Sears Tower? Neat idea.

A dramatic shot, though I find the connection to your 'resolution' to be a bit tenuous.

Neat image. I like how you made shadows the subject and used B&W. Unless I'm badly mistaken that's Hancock building's shadow and Chicago lakefront, Robert.
