I think you should pay attention to your background and subject so that you avoid getting those two blending in.

Wonderful contrast to the point where the viewer has to investigate to discover the subject. I like the smooth verses the rough snow.

little off kilter and maybe tighter crop would work well. still i like the shot. good contrast without letting the snow get overexposed and blown out. maybe we need some more black and white challenges.

Boy that snow blower does a nice job, look how neatly it's shaven off. Maybe leaning a little to the left.

Not totally sure I follow. This is a B&W which means the resolution is already achieved, as for the portrait... This is not a portrait as this should then include the face and expression... but maybe you were saying that portrait is something your still need to achieve? As for the image: It is skew, needs some straightening... The skew tree in the foreground bothers me, the rest of the image is good though, maybe a little lighter.

Looks like you're off to a good start. I find that snow is very difficult to capture well, and I think you've managed a lot of detail.

I`m not sure the black& white is best here.

Nice mono capture. Like your resolution. from the looks of it another maybe to plow more snow, yikes.

Don't think choice of subject lends itself very well to B&W processing - not enough elements for dynamic contrasts; additionally, it is leaning to the left, which is distracting.

I thought you might title this "Move Away" I live in a snowy climate too...

When doing more b&w, I'd suggest better control of contrast to make your your subject stand out more from the background. Also straightening, unless you have a good reason for things to lean left.

Minor suggestions: 1) the image isn't level -- trees and man are all leaning left. 2) The man blends in too much with the shadows in the background and with the snowblower. 3) A slighter tighter crop from left to eliminate the foreground tree and from the top deeply shadowed area.
