Agh! You had a ride along pedestrian to use for a "perfectly timed" capture, too. Now go back and shoot that side building from directly across the street with Lo walking in the direction of the arrows, submit it to another on-line challenge and give me half the price money! Lol!
(No recounts allowed unless you are running for US President and your name is Bush.)
(As an aside, I noted how the votes went in the top 5. Interestingly the top five more or less ranked the other top 5 entries high in their favourites. For the top 3 any one of them withholding their vote might have vaulted their own entry into a winning position. Now that's the Challenge spirit! (Only six points separated the first three entries)). |

Jade: LOL. I demand a recount! Once again Loreen comes along for the ride and finds a better shot right down the street. Then she steals my Canon with the 10mm lens and gets a 2nd in the Main. :-))) |

Michael Steve and I are right and it is time you started listening, lol! I still think you have a great shot of the figure following the arrows and as Steve noted in the moment all you needed to do was see that and rotate your can a tad to the left and you'd have the winning shot! Gee it is easy to critique after the fact!!! Lol! |

The painted signs of yesteryear were an art unto themselves. The log cabin adds a vintage feel. |

aoc: I couldn't agree more. Although it's not evident by the photo (no snow showing) we are in the middle of winter. The wind chill tonight is supposed to be -46F. So you will understand that the antique cars are all tucked away somewhere warm. |

Well-executed image of an interesting old sign and buildings. Would be even better with an antique car on the empty street. |

Perhaps you and Steve are right, but where are you going to find such a beautiful log house in an urban area? A sign on a wall is just a sign that has been painted by someone else. It's taking a shot of someone else's art - to me that does not qualify as an original photo, so I would not rate it as highly. Edited on Feb 13, 2016

I just wish you'd done the building...I find the background very distracting. |

Steve: Thanks - I felt the wall alone would be boring and the log home gave support to the historical value of the sign. Elyod: Thanks. You obviously have impeccable taste :-) |

It does just jump out at me, it's grabbed me and made me vote for it. My#1. |

I love painted signs on brick buildings, but I would call this the tale of two images. What does the right third or more have to do with the left? The painted wall is the subject. I'd put the right edge of the frame close to where the signs start with the arrows pointing out of frame on the left and put the figure on the left side as if following the arrows. Need to include the tip of the yellow arrow in the frame too. |
