Bernie, don't listen. A Beaver Tail is the Canadian version of strip bacon. It is the tastiest part of the beaver, every Canadian knows that. The Brits started dipping tails in flour and batter and frying it like fish and chips because that is what Brits do but under all that doughy pancake really is a Beaver tail!....(Tastes better than bangers at breakfast too) .....; )

Mepo I've sharpened the skates and I'm just saving up enough to fuel my L-39; as soon as I have enough for a tankful I'll be there in 20 minutes!

Bernie, Beaver Tails are like a pancake which you can top with all sorts of things like cinnamon sugar, chocolate... Best eaten on the longest skating rink in the world, or at the ice sculpture exhibits during Winterlude. - or during photo shoots. Congrats Michael

Bernie: Put on your woolies and come on up, I'll buy you one for sure :-)
Jade: Sometimes I think that is why half the people skate the canal . I seem to remember it was on your bucket list - the welcome mat is still out :-)

mrsawyer You have to be an Ottawagonian to really appreciate the delicacy of a fresh hot beaver tail!

Congrats Michael! I never thought of beaver tails as pastry, but I suppose it is an acquired taste!!!

There's an amazing amount of detail and colour in this shot considering the low light conditions. Looks like a "happening" place.

Exposure succeeded well in hard situation. Rich colors. In my favorites.

Thanks for the comments. The camera was handheld. I didn't want to use a higher iso and had the aperture wide open. I adjusted the exposure by one f-stop to force the camera to use a higher shutter speed and avoid blur. Shooting RAW lets you make up for all sorts of sins like this - I highly recommend it.

A good capture, and a nice blend of colours with nothing overpowering.
I can almost smell the pastry.

Thanks Ysal. My priority was to try and find a good photo. Glad you liked the feel of the image, I was trying to get across the good feelings shared by everyone who was there. We were surrounded by ice sculptures at our winter carnival - a popular event.

The letter P is lost in the picture, but I still really like the overall feel of the image.
