Post-Processing: Two images merged in multiple layers (worked with three layers created by duplicating one image), with some cloning out of dust spots, trimming of layers, generous use of warp feature and some smudging, adjust layer opacity, crop to fit.       Extra Info: I'm impressed with good industrial design, how good design enhances functionality, and how often seemingly unrelated products seem to share similar design elements.

I tried to create a merge between photorealism and faux-real elements such as the image backdrop and horizon much as you might find in an industrial concept sketch. (Both the image of vehicle and the electric razor were photographed separately with the same camera and manipulated in PP in an attempt to invoke an icy blue cold steel cast - both are actually metallic grey in colour.)

After much thought I did come to basically same conclusion as you. It still reminds me of a magazine ad but thought was very well done and deserved a vote. I did end up voting for your entry and can say was in my top ten.

did not see this coming from you. well done. statistics is a fickle game... looking at voting spread i would put this higher (higher than mine at least).
i want to know if the car is full size and where you photo'd it.
nice going.

mrsawyer I am amazed you can keep track of these things. I haven't had a lot of time to play lately but I worked on this for a bit by making some time late at night; I think I put in over an hour which is way too much time for one image but I was playing and learning new techniques so it was fun.

Congrats- this was my #3. While the "p" was not prominent the image was captivating.

This is wonderfully creative. Excellent photo/s and excellently processed. I love the low key. Only critique would be the upper half is a little empty, but still high in my favourites.

I suppose I should add for those that don't get it. I "see" the sleek lines of the car reflected in the shaver, both figuratively and literally.

The shaver is mundane, the car not so much. But I will bet many more people "enjoy" the well designed shaver (then ever will enjoy even seeing the car) and without ever giving it a second thought.

That said, as I try to "sex' it up, I feel the allegory falls way short simply because the shaver really is so mundane by comparison. I almost went for a shot of the shaver alone to play up its sleek lines without the uber sleek auto to draw your eye away. So I'm not totally happy with the compositional elements of this one, ysal and bryanshoots most closely reflecting my ambivalence.

KJW I like your comment for two reasons. As much as much as I enjoy any comment positive or negative, I learn most from constructive critiques. But I also enjoy getting to see something from a different perspective. I am intrigued by your comment which seems to say "This is so good it won't make my top ten picks." I hope you will expand some since it seems so counter- intuitive.

Outstanding photo. Fills the criteria but to me it is so well done it looks way to much like a magazine ad. Don't get me wrong I really like this entry but on the edge if voting for it.

Exceptional use of creativity and pp to create this merged image. The sapphire blue is much more impressive than the grey would have been. Beautifully composed and balanced. My No 1

Sleek image, beautifully crafted. Kudos! Love the reflection of the shaver at the bottom that makes it look exactly like a racing car in full flight.

You certainly achieved a futuristic image - well thought out and beautifully created.

Sometimes you over reach. I like the car, the shaver not so much. The shaver side profile was my original goal but short of relocating the product label in PP it wasn't going to work well. The blue light and reflections were the hardest to get just right.

This is a pretty image but it confuses me a bit. Is it an image of a car or shaver or? I like it anyway.

On theme, very creative and well-executed - especially the dramatic lighting. Not highly enamored of the concept, however.

Great technique. I love the lighting on the car and the bluish horizon. Im a fan of industrial design as well but I think the two items don't work together.

excellent work! not totally convinced of the shared design elements (more noticeable in the thumbnail view), but still like it overall. might just be a winner here.

The concept is interesting and the image manipulation is outstanding. I'm not a fan of constructed images in principle but I couldn't leave this out of my favs.
