Yes, another example of your impeccable taste, and much appreciated. Although I suspect Marilyn may want to re-assign her vote when she finds out it's mine LOL

The sun on that day was at about 30 degrees. In mid-December, it peaks at about 21 degrees (at noon) and in July rises to a high of 68 degrees. You really should plan a trip to experience it for yourself - our door is always open :-)

I see Marilyn and I have great taste!

Is this as high as the sun gets at noon in your world?

Very nice! I love those shadows leading in to the verticals. In my favourites.

Bernie: Many thanks. It was a once time opportunity. It's amazing how quickly the sun changes it's path every day at this time of year.

Your shadows make it my favorite

The shadows of the trees draw you right into the shot, and I like the transition from dark to light from R to L.

Wow, you must be pretty far north to have shadows like that at noon. Nice composition - well done.

    Jade: Thanks

fc: I couldn't get them any whiter without blowing them completely. With the sun reflecting off the snow it would need several images to control it any better. I was restricted in what I could do because it was so cold my lens froze and I could not focus or control the aperture. The wind was still quite strong and I did not have much feeling left in my fingers anyway. The vertical stripes of snow on the trees were left by the storm, which gives some idea of its intensity. There was only about 5mm of scattered snow when the storm started. This was the most snow that we've ever had in one day. The sun was more than welcome even if it was not providing any heat (other than the physiological variety).

Anthony: Thanks. I tried this again with a working lens, the next time the sun came out three days later but, by then the sun had a higher arc and the shadows were not as impressive.

The foreground shadows in what carries this photo, nicely captured and good contrast!

Quite pretty in a tricky lighting situation.
