No, mom!       ©2016 dk
Olympus E-M5       17th place, 30 points
1/160s, f5.6, ISO 400, 80mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: crop, convert to BW, adjust highlights and contrast       Extra Info: This little guy wanted mom to back off and allow him to independently navigate the climbing structure. She was reasonably accommodating, trying to remain as low key and unobtrusive as was safely possible.

The detail and lighting is just great. The headless Mom is a distraction. Perhaps it would have been better to zoom in on the little guy.

Good idea but spoiled by the mother's had being hidden. Brave little boy.

would have cropped out the upper ironwork as it was not needed.

regarding the crop: yes I thought (maybe not enough though) about cropping off more of equipment above, but I was trying to capture where the little fellow was trying to go, and why mom was mega-concerned. I don't think I told that "story" too well with my shot though...

Did you try to crop off the upper part of the climbing structure to highlight the little guy?

Like the contrast between the small, vulnerable child and the big, intimidating rectilinear structure. Might be more effective without the adult, and maybe a slightly tighter crop.

The B&W works well, but I would like to have seen the picture feature the child more prominently. I don't mind the headless adult, but I think their your pic would have been stronger by cropping closer to the people and not having so much of the playground equipment visible.

Photo is very busy.... Maybe a tighter crop? I liked the extra info and it did add some context. I still feel that mom's face should have been visible, I know this would have been difficult given the situation.

Beautiful child and nicely caught. The headless minder is o.k. with me but I will bet you will get comments on that.
