Thanks for all the critiques, comments, and votes.

Lo - perhaps it is periwinkle, as this is a ground cover vine that is competing with the english ivy in my back yard. thanks.

NICE, reminds me of a huge prop from a ship!

In Canada we have a ground cover vine similar to this called periwinkle. There is also a flower called vinca that looks like this. Lovely vibrant colours, great detail and definitely on theme.

Nice macro of the flower - looks like a pinwheel - but scene otherwise is a bit stark. Good example of Rule of Thirds.

The noise in this image is a bit strong, but not so much amount of noise, it is more the size of the noise pixels. This leads me to believe this was cropped a lot. The composition is fine, and DOF is acceptable but could have slightly less DOF. At f2 I am sure you were pretty much maxed out on the DOF setting, but getting in closer would have been the better option, it would have decreased the DOF and noise.

nice image, lighting and color and use of 1/3 rule... I want to like this photo more than I do... the softness of the flower especially the center makes it look flat or out of focus but still in my favorites.

Sort of looks like a purple windmill. I see you used flash. I think more diffused, softer light would be better.
