Extra Info: Timerman offers one of the best descriptions and discussions I've read about the different faces of totalitarian regimes, but points out they are all essentially the same - brutal and malevolent. This sculpture has always reminded me of those who suffer under such regimes.

Nicely shot, but the central placement seems a bit static and leaves much of the frame empty. Consider offsetting the sculpture and add ing another prop or two - maybe a padlock and a ring of keys? - to help fill the space.

Majority a capture of a sculpture, which is someone else's artwork. Including the book does add some of your interpretation. I think the textured wall and wood table is not the best choice. I would have rather gone for a setting that isolates the sculpture and book. You have a halo around the sculpture which is a bit distracting, and I would have dropped the black point a lot more. The theme you going for here needs more drama. I don't emotionally connect to the image, maybe if I read the book. But then the book would be evoking the emotions but might have reminded me of the struggle.

Your comment says it all. Very well done and nicely lighted. The starkness of the image conveys the emotion - in my TT's.

    like this one
would have preferred to use a smaller dof and lose the wall paper and wooden table making the statue more isolated
