The interesting angle gives this image a creepy feel (like someone is sit up any second).

Your photo provoked a lot of thoughts for me. I remember when my father died, many years ago, my sister and I were talking to the funeral director and he remarked, "I wouldn't bury my dad in that casket". He was no better than a used car salesman trying to get us to spend more. We just had to bury my mother-in-law less than a year ago, this funeral director was much better, much more understanding.
I decided a long time ago that I do not want to spend 'eternity' in a casket. Toast me up and spread the ashes.
A very thought provoking shot for me, thanks for posting.

Since I couldn't imagine anyone taking this at an actual funeral, my emotion would be curiosity, such as that of a child

Sadness for the finality of a family member's death. Good angle for the photo.

In bad taste.

none is the answer
there is nothing but a shell left
remember them as they were and not as they are now

This casket is for rent at a local mortuary. It contains a cardboard box for the deceased to rest in, until cremation. The right end opens up and the cardboard box is slid, foot-first, into the oven. The inside of the casket is then re-dressed for the next rental. Cost for rental $1700. I tried to beat the system by asking if I could rent it for 30 years, thinking they wouldn't want it back after all that time, but the funeral director said no. There was no occupant when I took the photo. It was still a bit unsettling just being in the place even though no remains were in sight. I could not imagine having to shop for one of these under the stress of grief, though I know many people do so daily.
