  #172 Arches
Entry 11 of 24
Inside the Mausoleum       ©2016 ysal
Panasonic DMC-GX7       10th place, 70 points
1/100s, f9, ISO 200, 40mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: Cropped and corrected lens distortion (which was rather difficult). Converted to B&W using the built-in feature of the PP software. Adjusted exposure. De-noised and sharpened. Finally, resized.       Extra Info: This is a 3-story mausoleum at a nearby cemetery with an open central space with lots of arches. I tried to look for a composition that was complex and interesting. The color version was OK but I thought B&W emphasized the arches.

Great find for this challenge - arches through arches through arches. The sunlit bit increases interest. In my top 4 favourites.

I love the look and tonality of the 2.5 arches on the left of the photo through the closer arch. Maybe a different crop just on these arches would look good? Still a good looking photo as it is though. GL.

You certainly captured an abundance of arches. In one way I find it interesting to explore the criss cross arches but I think I would prefer less complexity if I could pick one point of focus - possibly the trees through the furtherest arch. I also like the B&W treatment for the variation in shades it provides for separate arches.

Lovely combination of silhouette and long depth of field .You have succeeded with archways as the main element.

Lovely shadows and good in B&W. Would have liked a figure in it.

I can imagine it would be difficult to correct lens distortion with all of these arches. You did a great job, and the B&W treatment was the perfect choice.

Classic arches. You did well with a difficult lighting situation. B&W was a good choice.

A wonderfully sensitive capture, well framed.

more arches than you can shake a stick at.
the green foliage would have distracted along with the highlighted balustrade

It was the right thing to do to render this in B&W. Nice composition and interesting imagery. Like the play of light and shadows.
