Thanks for the votes and comments and critiques. This is one of my favorite trees in my front yard. My wife wants it cut down because its roots have "uprooted" large chunks of our concrete driveway.

I've taken the same shot several times. It's not as easy as it looks. You have the balance just right. Well done - certainly big!

This would have made it higher in my list if it were not for the severely blown-out sky. I can image that the lighting was challenging. How would it have done in B&W?

This was shot at maximum f-stop. There was direct horizontal sunlight on the top third of the tree, as this was shot about an hour before sundown.

Lots of nice texture in the bark. I wish it were a bit sharper in the near foreground. Even though you say you merged three exposures, the top half is too bright I think. I might suggest compositionally moving top of the tree nearer the top of the frame and adding a vignette to tame the brightness of the sky.

perspective well done! not just another tree shot. examine your DOF to keep all in focus and reduce exposure.

Lots of ghosting in the upper leaves.

Impressive close up with good perspective.

I would of focused more on The branches than the trunk as the bark is not very attractive, shooting further away may of helped and changing the AV.

Certainly a big tree. A bird or squirrel climbing it might have added something in terms of both scale and visual interest.
