Anna's Hummingbird at Rest       ©2016 ysal
Panasonic DMC-GX7       6th place, 126 points
1/500s, f5.6, ISO 320, 600mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped; enhanced light, highlights and shadow; increased saturation; adjusted midtone; denoised and sharpened; cloned out a small distracting branch; resized.       Extra Info: This was HIS perch. He would fly off to chase other hummers away or feed, but came right back to this spot. I assume if I went there right now, he'd be there.

Thank you everyone for all the kind comments.

And thank you Jade! I'm happy with 6th!

I say the members underrated this one, though a 6th place finish is nothing to complain about. It is a fine effort.

Lovely sharp photo of the bird. Well done.

    My no. 1.
Simply because it is so subtly perfect. From the background which does not distract and yet gives a sense of place, to the simplicity of the perch, to the perfect pose, to the glint of sunlight reflected in the eye, to the colours, detail, lack of noise, framing, and a moderately difficult subject caught at 600mm.
You can't do a static bird shot better than this.

Wonderfully crisp, sharp subject, nicely composed with an interesting play of light in the background. TT.

Great Close up. What type of Hummingbird is it. We only have ruby throats in my area.

Nice capture, though he seems a little lonely - maybe a tighter crop?

This is really well done! I like the beautiful details on the bird, the creamy bokeh and the composition. I'd be expecting this perched on top at the end of the voting.
