ysal - Yes, it is! There is better picture of his swing in the outtakes.

Cool shot but I find the audience a bit distracting. i wonder if they could be cropped out. Once the distraction is gone, I see the leading lines in the foul lines. Is that Bryce Harper at bat?

Nice concept; I see what you are trying to do here, but I think maybe the background crowd is overpowering the effect.

Thanks aoc46, kerszkavet, forkcandles, Jade, and Lo.
It was a night game, so lighting wasn't the best, and I was about 400 feet from the batter. The batter is actually beginning his swing at the ball which is about 10 feet away. It is the blur on the wall to the right of the word FACEBOOK.
I actually uploaded the wrong image in my haste to beat the entry deadline. (Yes. I know there was a week extension!)

Good idea to focus attention from the first base line up to the batter. A bit more contrast would help.

I've shot baseball before and found it is a percentage game....lots of clicks to get a few good captures. This suffers from over exposure and a washed out look, and the figures are not tack sharp, all necessary for this kind of good sports action shot. No doubt the 1/59s shutter didn't help. I shoot as fast as the light will allow which may be the big problem here, if this was not a game that was being televised.

as we in England call this "rounders" as stated by HM Queen on a visit to the redsocks ground.

Interesting idea and good composition; I like the leading lines of the stairs and the white line and grass edge leading to the batter.
It is a shame you didn't get the actual swing, but I imagine timing that is difficult. It also looks like the sharpest focus is on the crowd rather than the players, but that may be the effect of movement (shutter speed exif is not visible)
In post production I would have considered correcting the slight tilt, and maybe cropping a little from the top (e.g. taking out the empty seats) - for me the crowd dominates the picture a little too much. You'd still get that great leading line of the stairs.
Also, the highlights on the players are a bit bright, wonder if dropping the highlights on them would have helped them appear sharper?

Nice action shot. LL works well, but players at plate get lost in the crowd. Would suggest some PP to put the spectators more in the dark.
