  #175 Leading Lines
Entry 7 of 23
Star attraction       ©2016 A.N.Other
Panasonic DMC-TZ30       7th place, 105 points
1/5s, f6.3, ISO 100, 34mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, no flash
Post-Processing: Cropped and slight rotation.

Stretched verticals.

I used one of the free Nik Collection Color Efex Pro 4 settings (sorry but I can't remember which one) followed by adjustment of levels to improve the tonal range in the photo i.e better blacks and whites (well oranges in this case :-)

Sharpened, dodge and burn highlights and shadows.

Resized for challenge.
Extra Info: What is this? Go on, have a guess!

I'll give you a clue.....it's NOT a work of art ;-)

I have just added some photos of both sides of the hot water bottle on the outtakes thread if anyone would like to see what it looks like in full. Neil.

I just edited one of my comments on Chrome and Edge and had no problems :-) . Maybe happens just during the voting stage or all sorted. Ill keep my eyes open for it next challenge.

How odd, the side of an Aussie hot water bottle? Really unusual.

edit- I used Google Chrome as my Internet browser. The comment I typed showed up without having to refresh. Maybe the choice of browser makes a difference, Neil.

Thank you all for the guesses and comments :-)

I can see why you thought it could be a ceiling MSL. Artexed probably.

Lo - you were close with rubber and the water connection. Well done :-)

Certainly multitudes of leading lines. Are we looking at a ceiling treatment I wonder?

Excellent leading lines. Nice find. In my top 5.

What a wonderful array of lines leading to the star at the centre. At first I thought the star should follow the rule of thirds, but I think the composition here works much better. I'm going to take a guess and suggest that this is one of those rubber stoppers for sinks or tubs. High in my faves.

First impression is a communist star, but well done no matter the actual intent.

Thanks to all 3 of you for the comments and guesses.

Forkandles, I can see why you would think it was Russian. It was actually made in Australia! I didn't think they would need hot water bottles. Maybe they put ice water in them instead :-D .

How many leading lines can we have... interesting photo even if I don't know what it is ;-)

This is obviously the new Roulette table in Vegas. It has 90 Red and 90 Black numbers for a total of 180. Punters have been queuing up around the block to play even thought the odds are so extreme that no one has yet picked the winning number after 9 months in play. It's a giant magnet to those who have never worked out that Vegas, and all it's glamour and extravagance, did not get built by letting mugs like you and I leave the city with any money in our pockets. LOL

Attractive shot and certainly right on theme. Thanks for puzzling me :-)

Thank you for all your comments and guesses.

kerzkavet - you are right on target with 'heat exchange'. It is the side of a hot water bottle :-) .

Is it some form of radiator / heat exchange?

I love the composition, subject and execution; great shot.

Intriguing design. Not sure there are enough LLs here . As to what it is, maybe some sort of drain cover?

Aug 26, 2016
Argh, I'm racking my brain to figure out what this is!!! But I won't hold that against you. It's in my TT.

Aug 26, 2016
Clever use of the design to lead one's eye to the star. I wonder how this would look in B&W? I think the monochromatic browns detract a bit but that is MHO. Nicely done.

Maybe I should have banned ex Fujimuggers from guessing :-)

You have a good memory Leanne! You got it spot on :-).
