Old Cottage       ©2016 babysister
Panasonic DMC-GX7       6th place, 110 points
1/59s, f4, ISO 500, 16mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped and increased saturation. Sharpened.       Extra Info: This is the original cottage built in my district which is 30 kilometres from the city centre. In 1849 German newly weds migrated .They later bought 5 acres of land and built this cottage for their growing family of 3 children.
It's rafters and posts were from young trees on the land and the stone from a nearby quarry. The 3 roomed house has no interior doors. The fireplace was made of stone, clay and mud. The doors and window frames were adzed from logs and slabs. There is a kitchen/living area and two bedrooms. The floors were earth. Water was from a well nearby.
It is now owned and maintained by the local council.

Qixil: The person is a volunteer , a number of whom are there to give information to visitors (and keep and eye on the place)

This looks so charming and romantic and so strong and solid that it will probably outlast buildings being built now. (But I wouldn't want to trade the times and conditions of living!) In my favourites.

I love the richness of the colour and the textures of the stone walls and cobblestones. Beautifully lit and composed.

Beautiful old architecture. I'm not sure if I like the person at the end, but still in my TT.

Good choice of historical subject. The person adds interest to the composition.

I like the figure at the end of the passage, but the burnt highlights in the distance is a bother for me.
