Mattawa River       ©2016 Lo
Panasonic DMC-FZ200       9th place, 82 points
1/250s, f4, ISO 100, 27mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Converted from RAW with minor straightening, reduced highlights, increased temperature. Cloned out overhanging branch, Used Topaz5 to increase vibrancy and detail.       Extra Info: The Mattawa River was designated a Canadian Heritage in 1988. The first Europeans to travel up the river, Etienne Brule (1610), and Samuel de Champlain (1615) did so in the canoes of their First Nation guides. For 200 years thereafter, the river formed part of an important water route leading from Montreal west to Lake Superior. It was the primary access to the vast Canadian interior in the days of the fur trade.

lovely scene. good balance and composition. Bit over sat, esp to the warm side of things for my liking

Beautiful colors, well composed. In my favorites.

A birchbark canoe would have been wonderful aoc46, specially if we were in it. They move beautifully through the water, without disturbing the silence. Anthony, I'm not sure about the colour aberration; a few of the maple trees were just starting to turn red amongst the pines.

AN appealing scene and an appropriate recognition of its history. A bark canoe pulled up on the shore would be a great addition.

love the vista in this one. and a lot people forget that rivers were the commercial highways before 16 wheelers and the like.

the image is great where it shows how nature hangs on with the exposed tree roots digging in

Nice foreground interest, beautiful scene. The treetops almost look a bit purplish in the high contrast with the sky, chromatic aberration?
