Thanks all, for the votes and comments.

Anthony - you are so right in your analysis!

Alan - the girl was just standing there about 10 feet from me waiting for her big sister to take her to get ice cream. I overheard the conversation with her big sister and mother. So, I just pointed the camera and shot without looking through the viewfinder.

The dress is beautifully crafted. Is she from the Seminole tribe? She is really lovely, and a great capture for the theme.

Suits to the topic. In my favorites.

Nice costume, but the girl looks rather uncomfortable with all this. Perhaps if she were slightly smiling at the camera? The distracting background also is a problem; maybe she could be posed someplace where the background works better for you.

One of my favourites, just a pity that you couldn't have found a more neutral background but sometimes as I suspect in this case it wasn't an option.

I love the girl and expression, but the blur effect bothers me. Things don't look right with the chairs partly blurry and then the house in focus. I can't see the focal length, but I assume it was wide, therefore everything was in focus and you blurred the background some post processing to remove distraction from the subject. I find that sometimes adding a custom vignette applied in a subtle manner will help well with removing distraction and keeping attention on the subject without much effort.
