Canon EOS REBEL T3i       14th place, 47 points
1/25s, f6.3, ISO 400, 241mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, flash

Post-Processing: Straighten slightly. Increase contrast & brightness. USM       Extra Info: You can't believe how happy I am seeing this. I've just finished renovating this whole mess. In addition to insulating and rerouting cables and pipes, I also removed about 20ft of old corroded copper pipe and many fittings.
In the photo are hot and cold water supply lines in copper, braided stainless and Pex; PVC and copper drain pipes and vents; 120V and 240V electric cables; Telephone and network wires and one gas line (flexible copper with yellow tape almost hidden on the left).
Am I happy? You bet. All done - no leaks - and just some minor burning on one joist. View from the floor looking up.

Not sure why I am smiling. That looks uncomfortably familiar!

Does not make me smile. Makes me to remember a smaller hassle I had to work with in my summer place. This would have been too hard to me.

Qixil: Thanks. I love using my cell to take shots of things as I disassemble them. It's so much easier to put them back the right way.
fc; Thanks. It was a jigsaw trying to sort out what lines were for what apartment etc.
aoc46: I agree - it still looks a mess but it's a lot better than it was. This was built many years ago and had many faults. For example, their way of stopping the pipes from rattling was to solder the hot and cold pipes together wherever they crossed. At least they are now separated and the hot are all insulated.
jomari: Thanks. I suspect you have some experience :-)
ysal: Actually it all now exceeds the building codes. I can't speak to the gas portion since I hired a gas tech to fix that portion. I never touch gas lines (I have no qualifications for gas work) but the rest is ugly but safe. Not included in the photo is the main water feed which I upgraded in size and insulated to the point where it splits for the different apartments. This prevents condensation in the summer and provides nice cold water. Our city water has won many awards in North America for its quality so it's great to drink right out of the faucet.

I assume this is the "before" picture. Would love to see the "after" shot. Wow what a mess, that could not have been to code.

The satisfaction that a person gets from a job well done (especially a challenging one) is reason enough for me to smile with them. So, on the basis of your notes, this gets into my top ten.

I'm sure you're smiling at having the job done and working, but it still looks more like "before" picture.

Great shot - well lit. I sometimes take similar shots to record where everything goes, but it's usually shrouded in shadows and never so complex.
I like the 3-dimensionality and the differing layers and textures.
Nice.
