Our Radiant Sun       ©2016 Anthony Comyn
NIKON D750       2nd place, 128 points
1/320s, f10, ISO 500, 15mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Unsharp Mask, Dodging and Burning on the Rocks to highlight and expose some details in shadows, the gradient on the sky to bring down the exposure. Applied a sunlight filter in Nik Color Efex to warm up the light in the foreground. Some cropping about 20% to accentuate the starburst. Adjustment on contrast, shadows, highlights and curves. Some selective desaturation of orange, yellow and blue as the processing oversaturated the image.       Extra Info: One exposure only and thought I would mention that the starburst is a true lens starburst and NOT added post processing.

Congratulations, Anthony - IMO, this should have been 1st. My picture was nice, but this is Fine Art.

Not exactly on theme, but a gorgeous shot anyway.

    Congrats Anthony.

I don't see the multiple points of light as described in the theme description, but it is a beautiful photo!

Thanks for all the votes.... dk, this is in South Africa, very close to where I am spending my Christmas holidays in Betty's Bay.

Great use of rule of thirds to showcase the starburst. The rugged landscape really provides a wonderful backdrop to the soft rays of the sun.

Fabulous location. Totally laking any indication of scale. But I don't care it has a feeling of the sublime. The starburst and the sun sparking off the water helps it qualify for the challenge.

Nice scenery but does it say "sparkle"? For me, not really.

Thanks for the in-depth comment on my entry, and like usual this is superior to mine. I think this fits the challenge theme perfectly and under normal circumstances would get my top vote. Very well done.

This is a beautiful image, but it does not follow the challenge theme which clearly says "to shine brightly with a lot of small points of light". I see a single point of light only here. So, although I love the shot, I can't vote for this.

Great shot - very atmospheric and dramatic - the single starburst works well. In my TT.

This is my top pick, nicely done! I didn't think the starburst was added, so no need to add that in your comments, unless you suffer from paranoia :)
