Horses on Ridge       ©2016 davev
Sony DSC-RX10M3       2nd place, 148 points
1/250s, f8, ISO 125, 380mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, no flash

Post-Processing: I used CS6 along with the NIK plugin. I ran it through multiple times because I would hit the end of a slider in camera raw, but I felt the shot needed more, so I would proceed into CS6, save the file with the changes, then reopen in camera raw to adjust it more. Then into CS6, use NIK filters and things like oil paint to get the look I wanted. I believe I ran it through 4 times total.       Extra Info: None

Congrats, I would still love to see the untreated version.

Hey everyone thanks for the votes and the comments.
I apologize for the fact that I made no comments.
I'm not good at them, so for the most part, I avoid doing them.
Anyway, thanks again.

Beautiful and interesting picture, like a painting. In my favorites.

I love the angle of the shot, and the wonderful detail in the grass and the horses' coats. I feel as though the desaturation, though interesting, has taken some of the vitality out of the photo.

I remember this one from earlier in the year... can see why you entered it in your best of 2016... one of my favorites.

Perfect composition and subject, but honest, I would like this more with less processing (as fine as the processing is - among the best I've seen).

Really nice composition, just not liking the processing. Almost like you are trying to portray this as a painting and not a photograph.

Great subject. There is a painterly quality to the pp that I fear many here won't like. I do, however. For me, it's a very nice effort.

A very impressive presentation. Perhaps the 'flat' look is intentional, but to me the lack of a sense of depth makes it look more like a montage than something real.

I have to be honest. I did not like this treatment when saw it a while ago (I think it was posted in Outtakes). I think the composition is fantastic enough to present this without PP.

nice work. clearly one of the best in this challenge. (was this cropped from something larger as i'd love to see the horses on the right not cut off out of frame.)

Risky processing, but it works. This truly resembles a artwork. Beautifully done. In my favorites.

A little too painterly for my liking - but a great composition, and you can see some well-handled details in there.

I loved this the first time I saw it. I love it just as much now. Definitely my number 1 pick. I think it is one of the best shots ever.
