Extra Info: This section of river, downstream from a small dam, is a favorite spot for many species of migrating birds, including geese. I shot this one recent mid-morning, with the intent to blur, using a 6 stop ND filter.

dk - there is no opposition between this and tack sharp - it's all pixels. Just wanted to have an idea of your artistic vision as I couldn't perceive one. Thanks for the insight.

Kudos for a different approach. It's a bit like the scene I see when I don't hold the stock tight enough.

The blur doesn't work for me here, I think, because the stumps seem more ghosted than blurred.

Ha, a great abstract! In my faves.

The intent to blur is obviously an artistic choice but this appears to be one without an artistic purpose.

Qixil - I hope I correctly interpret your statement that you "...need to know." I will assume that you mean what was my intent in using this approach as opposed to the usual and conventional tack sharp photo...

One of my goals here was to make a statement as to how thousands of geese look to me. For me, an animal tends to loose individual identity and (if a bird has one) individuality when it is part of a giant sized group (kind of same with human animals, isn't it?). I actually am pleased with aoc46's comment that these birds no longer look much like birds anymore. And to me, tombstones is a great visual seemingly suggesting, at least to me, that I made my point. So, in a nutshell, artistic vision.

Not sure the camera movement technique really works here. The geese look more like tombstones to me.

I'm not sure if the blur was needed here. Would love to see it clearly. Looks like a pretty place.

Why did you intend to blur? I need to know.
