Two top fives - and both well deserved. Congratulations.

Congrats Steve. Here I thought you'd added a bit of snow to make some of us feel more at home :-) I was aware of the white and the dark smudges around some branches but I thought these were minor compared to the impact of the whole shot.

mrsawyer: I think that is an artifact of the application of clarity. I wasn't really satisfied with the processing result, but it was late and I was too tired to try to work on it anymore.

Congrats on high finish, Steve. What caused those white areas between some branches on the main tree? I noticed some other members noticed them as well.

Another beautiful and magical sky shot. I love the unusual colours in the sky and the amazing number of stars. The silhouetted tree really ties everything together.

Wonderful shot. Brings back some good memories for me before we had so much light pollution here.

davemisunas: It's a single image, but there are lights from a town where it's bright.

Always like a good milky way photo... not sure but suspect it is more than one image, lighting on grass looks like day and there is some odd white areas in the tree branch's... still like it.. in my favorites

Quite a stunning sky; I'd have darkened the ground to make a more dramatic image.

Very well done with capturing the night sky! The colours seems just a little too saturated.

I appreciate all the comments and agree with them. I'm really not satisfied with the processing and may give it another go later. I often find that after I let an image sit for days, weeks, or months and then come back to it with fresh eyes that it is easier to see what the image needs.

Nice capture of the star field - almost looks like the tree is on fire.

lovely. Perhaps a bit over sharpened, as evidenced by the mid-ground tree?? Sure can be a beautiful planet compared to what are probably mostly lifeless rocks "out there."

Beautiful night sky photo. That Milky Way certainly packs a punch.

very nice. i think it would be very easy to get hooked on astrophotography when you can get results like this.
there are some dark shadowy areas along some of the larger branches and a few light artifacts in the tree. did that happen in post processing or just accidental.
overall, great shot.

Great shot and colours. Surprised the stars aren't blurring after 30s. Nice.

The sky is beautiful, but there are parts around the tree that left bright white areas due to some PP you applied and those are too distracting to me.

Tremendous composition with the tree and excellent detail at ISO 3200!

The excessive smudged branches bother me most, but I still love the scene. The tree with the milky way work so well. In my favorites.
