OF: I'm happy you liked it. They were probably serving some delicious pastries in the dining car :-)

Mepo, you are absolutely right about the composition, the rule of thirds and the looking flat if totally inside the bridge.

I like the crop and the treatment. The light on the rails is a nice touch.

Perfectly captured. My favourite. Hope you did not get too cold waiting for the train to arrive.

Nicely composed - I like the emergence from the frame, you have timed this well. Top 3.

I was very happy with this shot and was glad some of you liked it. This was taken as the train approached Ottawa at high speed - it had been on the leading edge of the storm for most of it's trip. Not long after it arrived the snow set in with a vengeance.

I arrived early and dug my tripod into the snow and packed the legs by stamping the snow around them. I was glad I had done this as the blown snow from the locomotive nearly knocked it over as it passed. From prior experience I had a long remote shutter cable so I could stand well clear. The loco is in focus but the falling snow destroys a lot of detail I got the shot with the loco exactly where I wanted it. As cookiejar, masarak and ysal suggested, if it is framed inside the bridge it looks flat. I wanted it breaking out of the frame of the bridge to give it speed and depth. Old Finn - I used the rule of thirds to give the lcoc space to travel into in the hope of giving an impression of its speed. Thanks for all your comments.

This is one of those shot that I start to like more and more every time I see it. First I thought the train should be inside the bridge for perfect framing, but that may make the image look too flat. This has nice dimension. Overall effect is beautiful too.

Did you try to crop the picture to sguare? Nice view. In my favorites.

Love the composition here - and the unusual take on the theme - the subject is coming at the viewer out of the frame!

Looks rather painterly, not sure if it's on purpose or that the image was just out of focus. I don't particularly think this is framed as such, maybe if you had of taken it 1/4sec before :)

I love the impressionistic effect you have captured with the foliage here. The train emerging from it's frame with lights on works well for the theme.
