  #183 Ad Hoc Filters
Entry 1 of 25
street scene       ©2017 rd52
Canon EOS 7D       1st place, 193 points
1/639s, f9, ISO 320, 78mm, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: shot raw, in Affinity Photo, cropped, rotated 180, added contrast, resized and saved as a jpeg for the challenge.       Extra Info: Shot through a cheap vase (probably from FTD) filled with water. When you look closely at the empty vase you can see the horizontal lines, when filled with water it makes them even more apparent. Since the image was upside down, I flipped it 180 degrees.

Wow! Thanks to all for the comments and votes, I was quite surprised, thank-you.
Mr Sawyer, looking at the pic I kind of agree, would have been nicer without the car, but the crop kind of required it.
AOC, I like your title.
Old Finn, when shooting through the vase, depending how far the lens is from it, I found to get it sharp it flips the image. This is the middle of the vase, the top part of the vase is oriented correctly, but not the middle.
Again, thanks to all for the comments and votes.

Congratulations on your win. The filter you chose added a really interesting effect.

Congrats,RD!Did you buy a new lense? Looks like your focal length showed up correctly.

Hopefully, you'll have some great theme choices for us in a few days for #185!

The vehicle on the lower left distracts me for some reason. Otherwise, I find the photo pleasantly interesting. I'm just not sure why that car bothers me so.

This is my favourite. A good effect through the glass and water.

Suits well to the topic, I like it, my first choice. But why the image was upside down?

Great effect! I tried something similar but never could get the subjects in good focus. This one came out great. I'm trying to decide if it needs the cars at the bottom or not.

really interesting effect, and good subject to emphasise it.

This worked nicely! It is my top favourite in this challenge. I love the shimmery effect, the 'pine trees' and the sense of miniaturisation.

Interesting effect, well=composed. I think I'd have titled it "Earthquake".

creative filter and like its impact on image. Since little distortion of road and vehicles below and in front, I would have composed without so much of that portion. That part distracts.

A brilliant idea to flip the image. You have transformed a rather ordinary scene with the use of your filter into a very engaging photograph.
