Skyscrapers?       ©2017 ysal
Panasonic DMC-GX7       2nd place, 201 points
1/500s, f5.6, ISO 400, 28mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Increased Midtone and Color Saturation; Cropped; Sharpened; Resized       Extra Info: Euphorbia Resinifera branches reaching up to the sky. The plant looks like a cactus, but it is a native of Africa (cacti are only found in the Americas) in the genus of Spurge, which makes this a relative of the poinsettia!

Wow, this was another surprise!!! I really liked this shot myself, but there were also few other shots in the challenge I know should have placed higher.

I didn't pay much attention this shot initially. I had taken a wrong lens with me on the outing, which ended up giving a great DOF. I didn't think much about this shot until I got home and realized all the delicate and amazing geometry. I will post a shot of what the entire plant looks like in the Outtakes page. Thank you so much to everyone, again!

You're my number one, an extraordinary plant, with an excellent point of view, congratulations on second place.

Very attractive and slightly humorous image. I'd love to know which insects can afford the penthouse suites :-) Love the third dimension and the random pattern of little yellow flowers. Kudos. In my top three.

I've never seen a plant like this before. You've chosen the perfect angle to underscore the patterns. Great detail and colour.

love this picture - great angle, colours and contrast.
Had you considered a tighter crop on the central portion, to reduce the impact of the curvature ?

That's a really interesting perspective of an interesting subject. Right on theme as well.

Fascinating and a great shot for a pattern challenge. I like your analogy to skyscrapers. High in my faves.
