Hey Dave, great photo! Congrats on your top ten finish and good to see that you submitted and entry after a bit of a hiatus. Hope you find an inspiration for #187 Smell, Scent, Aroma.

Honestly, this shot did better than I thought it would in the voting. Thanks to everyone that voted and commented on it.

i still love this and sorry i couldn't see past the lamb for 'patterns'.
i really think you could market this shot. my suggestions.... crop off the top fifth, and clone out what almost looks like its front left leg. well done and happy to see the good response you got in voting.

Hey, thanks to you folks that allowed me to step outside the box a bit for this.
Just a note, that's a baby big horn sheep. (lamb)

The inclusion of the goat makes this one for sure. Kudos.

An unusual take on the theme which is really stunning. The back lighting on the goat and the ridge is beautiful. High in my picks.

I have just seen the pattern! Subtle and effective. Time to change my favourites.

    Amazing picture.
I'm a little torn re 'on theme' as the focus of the picture is on the animal, not the patterns of the rock formations. Although the rocks behind mirror the same angle of back and neck, and even share an ear-shaped outcrop.
great foreground detail for such a long focal length

Nice composition and rim lighting of the animal. It's amazing that they can survive in such barren and difficult terrain. The subject of this shot though is the animal, not 'patterns in nature'. So as great as this shot is and as much as I like it, it's not really on theme.

This is a beautiful image with an adorable sheep! Unfortunately I don't quite see a pattern here. Love the shot, though.

This is an excellent photo. But, where is the pattern?

Thanks elliott. You're probably right, but that's ok.

an incredible photo. maybe the main focal point just takes it too far of a stretch from the theme. not sure.
