Extra Info: Over 90% of the sun is eclipsed by moon in this shot. Thought that the whole event would be a bust due to the mild to moderately heavy cloud cover. However, turns out the clouds were a bonus: a bright ring around the sun seemed to develop, at least in-part due to the alteration by the clouds of the already lunar-attenuated light. Still needed those special eclipse glasses though...

Congrats on a high finish! Can't wait until the next solar eclipse here!

thank you for all your comments.

Robt, you are essentially correct. Although it was lower light out, still light poor so to speak. When I included the sun however, the shutter speed just sky-rocketed.

    Including the people was brilliant!

I ranked this #1. Loved everything about it. Thought it would have placed higher. Nonetheless, congrats on a top 5.

Too bad it was cloudy. Good idea to include the sun/moon gazers.

This is a nice variation on solar eclipse photos - The silhouettes against the clouds are really effective.

To me, the most interesting of the eclipse shots. High in my faves.

Great candid moment, shows you how gripping it must of been, wish I was there! In my top five!

One of the better entries of the eclipse. Love seeing a different perspective.

Awesome perspective. The moment I saw this pic I immediately thought of "The War of the Worlds" by Orson Welles.

Good photo... composition focus and it tells a story, high in my TT

Wow, I'm glad to hear that the cloud coverage added some benefit to the viewers. Nicely composed shot.

great image with the people in the image

The people help tell the eclipse story very nicely. Would be even better if the moon were in focus, too - maybe a composite technique?

Intriguing image - the light was certainly lower than "normal"; however, I am sure it was still quite bright out. Please correct me if I am wrong.
