Post-Processing:
In ACR, increased contrast, blacks, clarity, vibrance, and saturation. Decreased whites and highlights.
In PSE9, applied USM.
Extra Info:
There is a handy spigot on my refrigerator to get water and an ice chute as well. There is a convenient light built in as well for those late night quenches.

I had to with such dim light, focusing was a chore. I chose to prefocus on the dispenser lever which resulted in everything but the top two inches of thumb being in focus. Ran out of time and went with what I had.

Nice concept and play with light, but the thumbnail is out of focus.

Mmmm, interesting. I would have never thought.

Nice concept - would prefer sharper focus on thumb. Water falling at an angle looks odd.

Thanks FC.
Ysal - I usually overlook such simply accessible things to shoot. One thing I'm learning from Panachallenge members is that there is always a photo op nearby! I was just fortunate to remember to try this. It turned out better than I had hoped.
Qixil - I set my "tripod-ed" camera for the maximum DOF, which in such low light necessitated the 8 second exposure. I made sure to rest the bottom of the glass on the bottom of the dispenser opening and start dispensing the water about 2 seconds before my 10 second timer delay began exposure. Fortunately, it takes about 12 seconds to fill the glass, so I had plenty of time without overflowing the glass. It took about 10 tries to get it the way I wanted with my hand and glass positioned just right to get the lighting effect I liked most. So, the house plants got plenty to drink that evening!

My #2 - but how did you manage that in 8 seconds? Love the tones and the colours and the play of light. But how!?

Interesting find, I have one of these water dispensers but never thought to photograph it! Very original.
