Calm before the storm       ©2017 A.N.Other
Panasonic DMC-TZ30       4th place, 140 points
1/1600s, f4.5, ISO 200, 24mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped, Burn and Dodge, Levels, Saturation, Clone tool, Sharpen, Resized.       Extra Info: As my camera has a poor dynamic range, I photographed this scene using two exposures 2 stops apart and manually blended the correctly exposed sky with the correctly exposed beach.

Congrats on your good work and a high finish. Your blending of the two exposures was certainly worth the effort!

Really lovely shot. I love how the colors of the closest rocks echo the sky in the distance.

I would have cropped more off from the bottom of the picture. Anyway, suits to the topic and in my favorites.

Thank you both for the comments.

aoc46 - I was on the beach metal detecting and took my camera along just in case. I timed my trip there so the tide would be low but you are right, in about 5 hours there would have been virtually no beach left as it has the second highest tidal range in the world at 15m (49 feet) at it's maximum!

Beautiful shot - love the light, composition, detail. My one quibble is that the detail of so many stones makes the scene a bit busy, which takes away from the idea of peace and tranquility. Could you shoot it at high(er) tide with just a few rocks showing?

You've done a nice job of blending the exposures. It's a beautiful sky. I like the foreground rock leading in to the rest of the scene.
