  #201 Break the Rules
Entry 5 of 24

Carousel       ©2018 SteveBee
Panasonic DMC-GX85       5th place, 95 points
2s, ?, ISO 200, ?, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Developed from raw in LR. Tonal adjustments to highlights, shadows, vibrance, contrast.       Extra Info: Everything must be sharp! No lens distortion! Or not. I shot with a very wide angle lens and long exposure to give a sense of motion and awe that a wee one might get upon seeing a whirling carousel for the first time.

Congratulations, Steve. This still makes me a bit dizzy! Well done.

Maybe too long a shutter speed to work out what we are seeing even for this challenge. 0.5 - 1 sec may have been better?

Nicely spotted - The result of breaking the rules is funky and fun.

This one is growing on me just for the pure fun of it. Really captures motion.

    Nice capture of the movement.

The idea works, the distortion adds character and the motion is great :) Top 5 for me, and just to add a little constructive note, I think it would have been even nicer to have the background a little more in focus, maybe with a second picture with short exposure and selective masking - maybe that would make the blur stand even more out. Nice job!!

Good use of a long exposure to get the sense of motion. Distortion also helps. In my TT's.

The motion blur and distortion do add interest to what could otherwise be a fairly ordinary photo. It still could use a stronger point of interest; you might consider superimposing a freeze-frame shot that shows some of the people and horses.

Always love a good motion blurred image.
