Post-Processing:
Crop. Haze reduction. Adjust levels. Use motion filter to streak the edges.
Extra Info:
Breaking the rule of thirds by centering the object and the rule of balance which suggests that it is better not to have a single object to focus on.

I couldn't decide if this was real or miniature, so it's interesting to read your notes.

O.K. - so it is a real train but I have to admit it looked like a toy to myself also :-) I shot this with an old ZS3 pocket camera. The lens is small enough to fit through the chain link fence which is part of the double fence structure. There was no sun on the final day of the challenge so I was getting desperate. The result looked quite dull and the ditch the train is running through didn't help. The blur was an experiment and I think it worked well. I tried a vignette to reduce the background colours but that made the shot look dull again. I would have liked to be directly over the track but the first fence had a large support there and I could not squeeze the camera past it. Also I was getting some strange looks when I was hugging the pole with both arms to try and position the camera between the fences :-) That's my tale of woe and I'm sticking to it LOL All comments appreciated.

Oddly compelling image. Good choice.

The intentional camera movement really added to the centred subject.

I like the centered composition here, works well to make the subject pop. The colors are also nice.
I'm not so sure about the zoom-out, real or post-processed - I think it distracts more than adds here. But an interesting image anyway, well done :)

Centering suits to this picture. In my favorites.

Succeeded in getting a feeling of motion. It is an interesting image despite all of the broken rules.

Good color, and the motion blur nicely captures the speed of the train. The nearly-symmetric scene is a good example of how "rules" of thirds and balance don't always apply. Might prefer a more head-0n view vs the slightly oblique.

This looks like a miniature train. Is it? The streaks in the blurring look like it was applied in post. Was it? Just wondering...

Was the blur added in post? Sort of a miniature effect. You might consider desaturating the greens a bit as it takes attention from the subject.
