Abandoned House       ©2019 SteveBee
Panasonic DC-G9       2nd place, 154 points

Post-Processing: Raw developed in Lightroom with exposure, contrast, and color adjustments.       Extra Info: My thoughts on the composition: The table creates a foreground interest element, the archway a middle ground and framing element, and the front door a background element. The table's orientation, The tops of the three doorways on the right and the line where the wall and ceiling intersect on the right provide sight lines leading towards the front door. The downward sagging ceiling blades help keep the viewer's eye inside the frame. Altogether these things create depth and three dimensionality for me. I desaturated the color to enhance the grungy feeling. It really was bad in there, so I got out as quick as I could after a couple shots..

Had this at #1. This must have been a beautiful place at one time. Did you take a tripod into an abandoned building or have you a VERY steady hand? Congrats on your top 2 finish!

Congratulations SteveBee! Great result. This and the other comments proof my nagging to be inapt.

Excellent use of pp to showcase this abandoned room. Congratulations.

Robert: This is a different old house. There are a lot of abandoned houses -- especially in the smaller towns and rural areas.

    Steve:

Just curious, is this the same building entitled "no place like home" that you submitted for a challenge on abandoned buildings?

Nice high finish. You are a master of decay.

Wow, did you find an empty house and just walked in? Brave! Great shot though, I typically don't like the HDR look but its used effectively. You're right, I can't take my eyes off the ceiling fan, What made the blades sag? I have a 30-year old fan in my house and the blades are still quite straight.

Great picture! Well composed and a very good finding for the theme.
Please forgive me my nagging, but in the first second I thought to be looking at a painting. Maybe a little bit too much postprocessing...?

Interesting use of pp to achieve this almost monochrome look. The detail is wonderful. Even in decay, the lines are so elegant. It must have been eerie to be in that space.

This is really charming whilst still showing decay. The domesticity makes it. Sepia works well.

    I can't " admit " to your perception, that's not how I see it.

Nice picture of abandoned house. The desaturation of colors suits well here. In my favorites.

Great composition and great processing that renders the grungy and abandoned state of the house. I like it very much

Fascinating how the table is still standing (despite so much damage) - it gives such an air of normality in comparison to the hallway, ceiling and floor

Impressive pp - would love to see the original in outtakes to see how you achieved the effect.

Well done. I know the feeling well about getting out of dilapidated buildings. Denaturation certainly helped evoke a feeling of destruction.

Well-shot - like the detail and composition. Not sure I would have emphasized the red object, which competes for attention with the box on the table.
