I liked this composition a lot. I think it would have done much better if a little brighter.

Perhaps the steps and building should be presented positioned more to the left to make more room for the attractive shoreline. That way you still get the building, but balance it with more natural loveliness. Just a thought...

Nice composition & exposure, I would crrop out some of the foreground & tone it down a little.

I did edit this on my poor quality laptop screen rather than my main screen as I was away... hence the lighting. I'll have another go for outtakes, but maybe my main screen is over-bright too...

aoc46 - I'll take the Hopper comment, thanks! My shot in the main section is thematically similar.
I have no idea about the purpose of the building or why it is run down. It is on Bathsheba beach in Barbados; it has been overrun with yellow seaweed, which dries to red.

I forgot to credit Ronnie Carrington for his excellent photo tour of the island where he showed us around (though he didn't point out this particular subject which required a brief jog away from the group to capture):

A god find nicely framed with good colour but it need a bit more light to make it pop.

Really like the pink building against the blue sky, the steps and the bit of wave at left - all give the scene a sort of Edward Hopper quality. Not as fond of all the white sand in the foreground.

A curious structure - would like like to know more about where it is, its history and purpose.

Seems a little dark on my screen, but I like the subject and the colors.

The overall tone is dark and low contrast like a moonlit night scene. Don't know if that was the case. I think it would better with brightening. That said the subject is really interesting and the composition is good.
