Thanks Lo, but actually my second win. The first was way back in 2008 though, so you're excused for overlooking it :-). At this rate, I reckon I'm a shoe in to win again in 2030!!

Thanks for all the comments. Your feedback is much appreciated. Several of you suggested a tighter crop (and you might be right), but I feel the strength of this shot is the lighting (the door itself is fairly ordinary), and therefore chose to leave extra negative space in the frame to try to really emphasizes the lighting.

I like the way everything leads the eye into the doorway. The detail and lighting is excellent.

Nice scene, but I feel that the door is too small a part of it for this challenge. Cropping off the left 35% and a bit of the black on the right would be a good starting place to correct this.

Nicely composed and perfectly lighted. I would have cropped much of the left portion of the image to enhance the arches and the door. Nonetheless, a great choice for the challenge.

An excellent composition and design. Everything leads the eye to the door -- the light, the lines, the framing of the arches, and the direction of the walkway on the left. There are no distracting elements. Well-executed in terms of exposure, sharpness, contrast) and verticals are perfectly straight (thank you!).

What an attractive and functional entrance. It must be very welcome in bad weather.

No doubt the subject is that beautifully lit door.

Though the door itself may not be as spectacular as some other entries, the composition, lighting and negative space direct attention to it nicely. Well done!

well lit, and largely as a result of this, well framed.

Beautiful composition of the door. Lighting is so nice! Did you consider cropping a little more on the left?
