I haven't forgotten about my set up pic. I was disgruntled about how my photo worked and sadly dismantled my setup before taking a photo of it but Iíll try and put it together more or less how it was to show you.

Thanks for the restrained comments all ;-) .

This shot sadly didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but I'd put so much research into it and had so much trouble getting to the end result just minutes before the deadline that I was darned if I was going to let all that time and effort go to waste!

My plan was to see if I could improve on Justin Quinnell's old fashioned but effective way of taking photos from inside ones mouth :-

And this is him with the 'camera' ready to go! :-

Hmmm, Sorry if you cant see this photo. It shows OK in the preview? I'll put it in the outtakes if anyone is interested.

After about a week of scouring the internet and watching countless reviews and comparisons I finally decided that a Quelima SQ12 would be my best bet. It's a small cubed digital camera often used on micro drones. I ordered on Ebay but sadly it took much longer to arrive than promised as it came from abroad, then I discovered it was a fake with a much narrower field of view and a terrible sensor. I almost gave up at this point but the 'unexpected viewpoint' specification was lodged in my head so I quickly ordered the newer but larger SQ13 of Amazon which would arrive on the last day of the challenge entry.

I'd already had a reasonable idea how I would provide the lighting - A mains powered LED strip covered in several layers of diffusion, black out card and cling film, then wrapped around the back of the camera and placed as far back in my throat as possible! Sadly the SQ13's larger size prevented the lens from being placed as far back as I would have hoped. I think the sensor is sub standard too so It could well be going back as another fake. What is the world coming to :-( .

babysister - I'll put a photo of both cameras and sizes in the outtakes for you close to a day after the result.

SteveBee - Not quite right as it's a fixed focus camera but I get your drift. I never thought I'd get my teeth in focus but I was hoping the pear would be passable.

dk - I looked into endoscopic cameras but the camera parts on the end were quite long and I don't think would have been suitable for the job. I was quite tempted though.

So next you will be telling me you took this with a 4x5 Speed Graphic camera! Good entry - a very unusual view.

Despite the lack of focus this gets in my TT for originality. How big was the camera? (This is more polite than asking how large your mouth is!!)

Kudos for creativity! I can't imagine how you were able to get this concept to work. I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around the unusual perspective.

I can't dispute any of your CHECKs, especially the last. The green thing doesn't look much like a pear - more like a big green vitamin pill. Hope you didn't swallow the camera!

    Poorly focused - check

I give up. How did you do this? A mirror?

Nov 22, 2019
yeah, you've got some explaining to do! Small mirror in your mouth? Endoscope camera?
