Post-Processing: Noise reduction; adjusted color balance, brightness and contrast; downsized; sharpened       Extra Info: The Hellfire Caves near West Wycombe, England, are a network of man-made chalk caverns which extend 1/4 miles underground. They were excavated between 1748 and 1752 for Sir Francis Dashwood, co-founder of the Hellfire Club, whose meetings were held in the caves. The caves have been operating as a tourist attraction since 1863. Over the years brick re-enforcement has been added for safety.

An interesting view through the layers of arches. Nice exposure.

Thanks aoc46. Always appreciate suggestions for improvement and I can certainly see where yours might be considered as such. I tried many versions, some like your suggestions before settling on this one for my entry. The caves were actually pretty dark and I was trying to retain some feel of that by leaving the shadows really dark, leaving the large area of shadow at the bottom, and the large white area on the right (to give the illusion, by contrast, that the rest of the shot is darker).

Interesting place. Might be inclined to crop some from bottom and right and to increase shadow detail a bit. A person in the farther spotlighted area or silhouetted at the end would add appeal.

Thanks Robert. I can't claim much credit for the lighting, but glad you like it :-).

This is a well composed, perfectly lighted image. I love the vanishing point as it draws one into the image. Well done.

Thanks for the comments. ysal: I think the wall texture is probably over aggressive noise reduction applied in camera (should probably have shot raw). It was actually pretty dark in the caves and I was pleasantly surprised how well the camera (a recent purchase) performed given the high ISO and low shutter speed (hand held).

Beautifully composed. Great colors and light. A very professional looking image. Wall surfaces have a strange texture (at least to me), not sure if it's really like that or an artifact of high ISO. Not a bad look.

Good composition, interesting subject. The eye is drawn in to the picture nicely.

Please take a look at the three opinion polls in the Forums under 'Site Talk'. They are only open for another three days. Even a vote for 'No Opinion' or 'None of the above' would be helpful. Thanks.

My apologies if you already received this invitation in the Main challenge. I'm simply trying to get everyone's opinion registered before the polls close in three days.
