I wish it had been mine - will have to bask in reflected glory...Congratulations on a great shot.

I knew this was yours...or hers. I recognized the subject and this angle reminds me of Vimy. You took a cherished memorial and elevated it. Kudos.

Congratulations on 2nd. Lucky you took those extra shots with your phone after your commitment-to-task of lying in the snow! Phones are so good now that I sometimes wonder why I'm still messing about with cameras.

It's so good to get so many positive comments from members who's skill I admire. Thank you everyone. There was still some snow on the ground when I took this, lying on the pavement - it was cold!

This photo shoot was a near disaster. I took several angles with my trusty Canon and they looked good on the camera lcd screen, which I was using to keep the camera as low as possible. Once I viewed them on my computer back home, I realized they were all slightly oof. I had not reset the camera after using it on a tripod for close-ups and the auto-focus and stabilization were both off! Luckily, I had my new phone with me and had taken a couple of shots just to see how they would stand up against the Canon. I was blown away by the detail that it had caught and seriously surprised at the dof at f1.73.

This memorial has always impressed me. It's in the centre of Ottawa, close to the Parliament Buildings. Completed in Oct 1938. Designed by Vernon March from the U.K.

His theme was "the Great Response of Canada," represented by uniformed figures from all services passing through a granite arch. The idea, March wrote, was "to perpetuate in this bronze group the people of Canada who went Overseas to the Great War, and to represent them, as we of today saw them, as a record for future generations..." There was to be no suggestion of glorifying war.

Excellent use of a low angle perspective .The detail in this shot is beautiful. The vivid sky really makes a superb backdrop for the sombre greys of the monument.

Definitely gives the strong sense of low angle.

Great statuary - and oh, that sky! What a perfect foil for the soldiers.

This is very well taken. A low angle shot should have a purpose and here it is clear. My top pick, for the subject, for the execution, and for the topic.

Well-composed, with a striking viewpoint for a dramatic shot. However, they're not social distancing, so does that explain why so many got the flu after the war?

Great angle. Love the blue sky as it sets off the sculpture perfectly. In my TT's.
