A.N. Other. I meant to reply. When you asked, I assume, what did I mean by I don't get the connection I simply meant I saw an egg on a metal spoon shot above what I assumed was a smoking stick of some sort, maybe incense, maybe natural fiber like wood or straw, and to me the wholly disparate elements had no natural relation to one another in any context that I could think of so it appeared to me to be a meaningless juxtaposition the point of which I couldn't figure out. Obviously the voters on the whole liked this way more than Steve's horses which was far and away my top pick but I noted that you both had the same number of first place votes so obviously many of the group thought differently than I did.

This is spectacular - congratulations on setting it up and on getting such a high finish.

Funny how we both finished 1st and 2nd place in both challenges. Well done.

    Wonderful effect.

    Wow, that's just...

All I can say is Wow! The set up is really creative and the result is amazing. The lighting and detail are superb.

It's not easy to capture smoke - the focus and lighting are spot on.

I'm delighted you all like the smoke patterns. I couldn't have realistically hoped for better.

Jade O - Connection? The challenge is 'Share what you like' so it has an open theme. If you are referring to the 'hopefully, will bring back memories of happier times' then yes, looking back through my old Fujimugs (the older brother of Panachallenge) photos did indeed do that. I do very much regret the fact that Fujumugs folded but I still cherish my memories of my time there. I hope my entries will give joy to my new Panachallenge family too :-) .

As for the title - sorry if it was a bit too cryptic. Please read the explanation in my reply to mrsawyers comment below.

The smoke patterns are compelling and everything is technically fine but I just don't understand the connection or the title.

    Really cool smoke! Eggcellent.

Apr 25, 2020
    The smoke pattern is terrific.

Thank you both for the great comments :-)

RobertLavker - I think I must have had beginners luck then! This was taken for the Smoke/Steam Fujimugs challenge and was only the second time I'd ever tried to photograph smoke. The first time was the previous day for my other entry. I have never tried since. Good luck if you try again.

Most creative - I haven done lots of smoke images; however none as good as this one. Congratulations on an outstanding image.

Neat shot - the smoke shapes almost appear to glassy solids. Very striking!

Thank you all for the kind comments :-)

mrsawyer - Sorry if the title turned out to be a bit cryptic. I took this photo for a Fujimugs challenge and have never changed it's caption since then. I can't remember the exact time the title came to me but I do remember that when it did it came in a flash (no pun intended!).

While I was sitting, waiting for the smoke to manifest itself into interesting formations, I noticed how delicately the warm smoke enveloped the spoon and egg in an almost ethereal way. It applied almost imperceptible pressure to their surfaces, whilst smelling beautiful in the process of doing so. It came to me that if an angel ever did kiss, it would be as gentle and as beautiful as how this smoke caressed the spoon. So the title was born and has stayed with this photo ever since.

When I saw the thumbnail shot, I assumed the egg was being steamed. But now I read that you used smoke. I have tried to stretch my mind to the place you were when you came up with the caption for the photo, but have failed. Please tell, why that caption? Beautiful lighting and focus.

    Creative shot, love the steam.

One of the joys of the mini challenge there is no theme so judging is on the “ What I like” or “What appeals to my sense of humour “
Every picture has a story some are disclosed and some not, this doesn’t matter as The Image has meaning to every entry

this has WOW and OMG factors for me .just thank you for sharing
