You are a master of bird and animal photos. This is a terrific capture. Congratulations.

I just knew this was yours! I had this one higher than Steve's entry simply because both to me were surprisingly unique bird shots but technically I thought this was a finer image and also cleaner and with an all natural setting (the bird bath while man made is stone like. Congrats on a high double 1/2 finish.

Fabulous capture! (But it doesn't really meet the challenge.)

Lo, my patio is attached to my house on 3 sides with the roof extending over to top. Thanks for the kind comments.

This is an incredible photo - I love the blurred feet. I think birds are so interesting when they are in the bird bath. I would have taken a shot of our resident cardinal, but it was impossible from inside. For that reason, I have to discount your patio shot, much as I like it.

SteveBee I had the camera set on auto iso. I checked the other shots from this same day and many had iso 200, but the ones of the mockingbird were 2000 and above. I was shooting in burst, but am not savvy enough to know if that affected the iso. I always shoot aperture priority with auto iso in burst mode for birds and most wild life.

At first I thought, too bad the feet have motion blur but then thought again and think you need that to confirm this really is a hopping bird...love the eye and clarity...my no. 2

Almost too sharp! Looks like something spooked it and it is about to take off? I will have to think about whether your patio meets the rules....

Great shot and pin sharp. The exif data is surprising - 1/639s, ISO2000?
