Thanks fc. In my neighbourhood we call our squirrels tree rats. When we have visitors from countries without squirrels and they see their first one and ask what it is, their eyes widen when you say tree rats.

Mepo Thanks. I'm glad it got your eye.

ysal I never assume anything is a clear winner on this site : )

Bill Always enjoy your input. Thanks. I've emailed you on the .edu address I had. Not sure if it's still your current email.

Sorry that I missed this. I have not been paying attention lately. Bad me. I like this. Nice abstract quality. I have put some new bird feeders outside the kitchen window and now working to get some decent bird shots. I think I still have your email address. Will send a sample.

Congrats JadeO! I can't wait to see what theme ideas you have for the upcoming challenge!

(Please email me your original photo so I can I try to figure out why our thumbnail routine rotated your entry. I've never known this to happen before.)

Thank you everyone for your votes and especially your comments. Each one is appreciated. Full credit to the architect who did the make over of this building turning it from drab to quite nice (but the pigeons still roost on the top overhang!).

Mepo Thanks. It intrigued me and it worked!

Maike It was a lot harder to find abstract than I thought but this was easier than I thought and it worked out, not perfect, but better than I thought.

ysal Thank you....the balconies reminded me of little beach huts but the blue is the sky reflected in the dark glass panels.

Lo The whites and blacks give this punch..a rare occasion where the lack of dynamic range is a plus.

Very dizzying image, really breath taking. So effective taken at an angle. All the blue glass panes are also adding to the effect. Nice.

Very unnerving - much more attractive than the thumbprint. I like the detail and the contrast between the blue and white.

jomari My orientation in thumbs is this way but I noticed in checking my entry the other orientation if I opened the image in a new tab rather than clicking on it. Seems to be a bug in the program reading orientation data in the image. This is how I held the cam so not sure why the mix. Thanks for the vote!

aoc Yes dark tinted glass did a nice job of reflecting the sky and making it a deep blue. The actual blue is shown beyond the building. I tried cropping close but liked this better. It is a low rise building, maybe 7 or 8 floors.

For some reason this is displayed in a different orientation in the thumbs. I prefer the way I am looking at it now. The use of tilt is extremely effective in this entry. It makes me think of a set of drawers sliding out as the chest is tilted. I like the repeated colours and shapes. (It would have done well in the repeated shapes challenge.) My #1 pick.

All the blue balconies (reflecting the sky, I assume) are a striking scene, and the angle lets you fit more in, emphasizing the profusion.

breadmaker Thanks. One challenge late maybe. I did think of taking this for the last challenge but had to come back for this one.

kerszkavet I assume you mean the white patch on the lower right? I left it in for orientation and to capture the greatest number of balconies. I could have moved forward to capture a different angle but I liked this one best. Cloning extra balnconies in to fill the frame was an option as well.

fc It's a standard layout. The dark glass reflecting the cloudless sky is what made this one work best I think. Did you notice the pigeons at the top? I assume you get them too!

Great capture, nice and sharp and could have come straight from the last challenge!

Great picture, the tilt really emphasises the pattern, shifts it towards an abstract. Works well in terms of sharpness, colours and detail. High in my TT.
The white patch on the upper right is a bit distracting from this pattern - did you consider a crop to exclude this?
