  #234 Dutch Angle
Entry 4 of 16

Heading West       ©2020 RobertLavker
Panasonic DMC-GX8       4th place, 109 points
1/250s, f7.1, ISO 100, 56mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: RAW files converted with Adobe RAW. Increased shadows; decreased highlights, increased contrast; filter-unsharp mask; curves;       Extra Info: I felt that the Dutch angle emphasized the bridge over the tracks which made an interesting frame for the leading lines.

Double top five and from the same location! The pp is wonderful and it takes a good eye to get what others would readily overlook.

Well done Robert - your train tracks were top 5's in both categories

I'm glad you had the yellow platform edge leading out from the corner. I'd suggest a crop to have the railing on the left meet the left corner. That adds to the leading lines and eliminates the areas on the left (rust, garbage bag etc).

Love how the railway line draws the eye under the bridge and into the picture. I think tilting the image really ups the interest factor here, by creating some nice diagonals.

Good idea. A few diagonal lines in the leading lines would be good but this is difficult with the way the tracks go.

Nicely framed shot. The angle has worked well. You have made me realise what a useful colour yellow is. I'll be on the lookout for it in future. Well up in my tt.

    Nice picture. In my favorites.

I really like the tracks leading away at an angle. I'm not sure about the bridge, it seems busy and distracting.

Great leading lines and lots of detail and colour. The angle makes for a much more interesting shot.

Not as compelling as your open entry but it has a gritty realism to it which gets it in my top 5

All the leading lines and color contrast makes for a striking image, and the tilt adds to the drama

Very busy scene here with lots going on. I would have cropped out most of the left hand side to the edge of the bridge and also some of the top to simplify the scene and emphasise the view through the bridge. As it is I find too many distractions but you have done well to capture a very difficult scene

I like the effect and the composition: the leading lines are good, and the tilt adds some interest - but the colours appear a bit over-saturated
