Post-Processing:
Crop. Clone out 2nd surfer in the water. Denoise, sharpen, adjust levels.
Extra Info:
We won't see so many of these boards in the future. Windfoils are taking over the sport. Nowhere near as impressive to watch.
Challenge rules requested your creative intention in using a Dutch Angle: I felt the shot was more impressive when he was going uphill. The angle let me link him to the lower corner with the spray from the board.

One of the best in both categories to use off angle, I thought this should have finished higher ---even with the panning blur! : )
Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering if you were on Lake Ontario, shooting from the top of a motor yacht or hanging from your parasail so good to know you were on solid ground.

Always nice to see an action shot in the challenges and this one makes excellent use of dutch angle.

I agree, uphill is good.

Nicely composed and well suited to the angle. In my faves.
Because of your notes I checked out windfoils, which turned out to be the 'what on earth are those' things that I saw on a beach trip. You are right - they do not look nearly as good.

I keep using my hand to cover up the land part, trying to decide if it should be there. Ultimately I decided it needs to be there to add the sense of angle. Great composition, great use of angle. A bit soft but I imagine he was far away and moving fast.

The Dutch Angle certainly adds impact to the shot. Tricky timing!

Jade. To answer your question. No setup. I had never met Marc ( the surfer) before. He was one of several who were out that day. I was perched on a rocky outcrop getting my wife's camera wet with spray (don't tell her) and the surfers were whipping back and forth across my front. Behind me, a bunch of young kids who were going on a rafting expedition were cheering the surfers on like mad, giving them high fives and applauding for every jump or quick turn. The surfers loved it and played up for their audience. It all made for a very enjoyable experience.

fc - I did have some shots without the far shore but they don't work as well.
kerszkavet - Thanks.
aoc - LOL - you wouldn't believe how much I toyed with different crops.
Jade - Thanks (I think). The lack of sharpness is due to panning the shot. I think I'm pretty good at panning and love the sense of achievement when hitting the shutter release occurs without jiggling the camera. It's very much like combat training. I've never tried panning for a Dutch Angle where the camera is tilted. I was panning parallel to the horizon. In retrospect, maybe I should pan at an angle as well. Tricky to do, since the subject is also moving parallel to the horizon. I loved the effect of the panning on the water in the foreground and that's why I chose to keep more of the left side of the photo (see aoc's comments). As for your quote, I don't agree - I've seen some wonderful images that were not tack sharp. I'm not saying this one would not be better if it were sharper. (Sharpening software did not work - again possibly due to the angle of the shot) Tack sharp - yet another 'rule' to be broken - Yay!

One of the few entries with an angle that has real purpose. It adds a sense of dynamic movement to a fast moving image and gives the viewer the sense of what the boarder is experiencing. I like everything about this shot, the colour, the framing, the pose, the sprays, the hair!, but alas, it is slightly unsharp. I'm thinking either missed focus or too slow a shutter but at 1/4000 I think the former. Clearly there was good exposure for an even faster shutter but I don't think that is the issue. It might be a depth of field issue or just a failure to sharpen after resizing. I'd love to know how you set up to get this shot. (I am reminded always of a poster on another forum tchuyane who said something like, First you image must be tack sharp. If your image is slightly out of focus, no matter how good the image, nothing can save it.)

Good use of Dutch Angle to add a dynamic quality to the scene. Cropping a bit off the left might improve the balance, or not.

Excellent dramatic shot, nice colours. I agree with your intention with the spray and the corner, the offset angle adds something extra to the shot, and just enough shoreline detail to add context

this works very well, as you have left in a check point on horizon .
