Post-Processing: Crop. Topaz Adjust spicify. Nik color effects detail extraction. Auto colour, auto contrast. Hue/saturation adjustment to certain areas (reflection, stains under seat) replaced a cigarette butt with a small clump of grass. Topaz denoise on a section of driveway behind grate. Spot healing tool. Image resize and save for web.       Extra Info: This poor couch had been left on the nature strip for the taking (a common method of people-to-people recycling). We saw it the day before I took this shot and it was in good nick. Then it rained! I have some doubts that it will find a new owner now.

Any time I see furniture at the curb I can't help remembering the episode in Big Bang Theory with something unknown crawling around inside it :-)

Thank you all for the comments and votes.

I don't know what the eventual fate of the couch was but a day or two after this it was gone.

Congratulations! So sad to see something that was once loved and had a prominent place in the home, now left out to rot...

Top 5 I ranked this one in my list but still this caught more votes that I thought.

The rain adds so much more to the desperate state of a couch left on the side of the road. Great composition, colour and detail - I can see the reflection of the floral pattern in the puddle.

Well timed shot. The water really increases the appeal of this shot, with all the reflected light. It wouldn't be nearly as effective on a dry day. Love the colours and composition. Would be perfect for the next challenge too :-).

I hate the fabric and the couch but the composition, colour and framing, and HDR treatment I assume, all go well together. This is oddly compelling since I dislike the individual elements (plastic HDR, mucky curb, overflowered couch...)

This is a great find! I am assuming that you did not pose it.

Nicely spotted and shot. Initially. a sign saying "Free" might have helped; now, a trash can next to it would complete the story.

Great subject, and i like the head-on composition, with the inclusion of the driveway to give a real sense of place - and to contrast the floral design with real flowers.

Oh, how sad.... I like the way the flower print complements the garden.
