Autumn arrives       ©2020 ysal
Panasonic DMC-FZ150       7th place, 77 points
1/1600s, f4.5, ISO 400, 25mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped; adjusted exposure of the bench; adjusted tone; resized       Extra Info: A rustic bench along an ocean inlet. It fills with water during winter and spring from the rain. It starts to dry out in the summer and it is now filled with very low level of muddy water. Taken along a hiking path in a nature reserve. Heavy fog was moving in this day, which can be seen across the water.

Thanks you for your comments. I actually like this a lot more than my main entry, but oh well.

kerszkavet - yes I definitely tried B&W which I'm a big fan of. Strangely, the bench got lost is B&W. Plus I liked this natural sepia tone.

    Good find. Nice moody shot.

Initially I though this entry too drab to be of interest, but it's grown on me as I've parsed back and forth through the entries. I like the way the trees are almost silhouetted against the river/sky, and how the mist blurs the more distant background. The slightly drab nature of the scene also makes the bench stand out more than it might otherwise, which is perfect for this challenge.

Nice job of making the bench the "star" of the scene, despite being such a small part of the landscape. A bit more saturation would perk up the scene.

I really like the moodiness of this photo, and the solitary basic bench that looks so forlorn in the dull days of autumn. Lovely detail.

I wonder if you could have got the fog around the bench for a moody ethereal effect.

An isolated bench is always an interesting subject - surprised we didn't see more entries. The absence of a human subject works really well at creating a sense of mystery - aided by the fog rolling in.
Did you consider a B&W conversion? The colours aren't adding much so monochrome might increase the air of solitude?
