Reminiscent of the 60's and 70's. Except back then, it was only young people protesting against authority. Now, it's people against people. Is this the price of freedom? |

Kerszkavet - Unknown to me, on the morning of August 15, 2020, there were protests by people supporting saving confederate symbols and counter-protesters. The two groups had some fights break out. By early afternoon, when I was out for my daily walk, the forces depicted in my photo rolled in (along with many more not pictured). Ysal - It wasn't exactly a warm and fuzzy shot!
I was glad to capture about a 4th of the various police units that showed up in my small town that Saturday, along with National Guard troops.
At first I was nervous about taking pictures of the overwhelming show of force, but there was a photographer taking photos for the news, so I joined in. (Though he did mention he had gotten maced earlier in the day.) |

Oh my, we see this scene much too often now. Hope we turn around but I'm afraid it will take a while. I hope you were not in danger. Great topical image. The more I look at this shot, the more powerful it becomes. Everything in the picture is meant to intimidate.
