The lilac-purple colour is engaging and a nice contrast with the rich green leaves - though the flash has given quite harsh lighting.

Are these Vinca? I like the colour of them - I wouldn't cut them down.
Nice detail with the water droplets. I'm afraid the background lets you down.

I'd say listen to your wife and move them to an area where they will have a more interesting background. I like the flower ad the foliage but the background doesn't help the shot at all.

I think the flowers and foliage are lovely, and I think you need to carefully consider the benefits of making your wife happy! The flower is a little overexposed.

Periwinkles can be pretty invasive but their flowers are so pretty! If your wife really wants it out, maybe you can transplant it somewhere else. Nice colors here with a clean background to bring out the flower.

Pretty flower and I like the background. I wouldn't cut them either but then there's that "happy wife - happy life" thing :-).
