Great job Neil. This was a fascinating shot. I really enjoyed the video on how luffas are made.

Thank you both for your comments and guesses :-)

jomari - I think it could easily be a sea sponge and lots of people think they are, but it's actually the end 'eye' of a loofah - loofa - luffa (depending on where you live). Please have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0npaci7kPnA&t

A sea sponge? Whatever it is it looks amazing.

A bit busy but very interesting. I guess it is seeds in a pod.

Thank you all for the lovely comments :-)

Lo - You are very close. It is usually a person scrubber but they could be used for pots :-) .

I'm guessing this is some kind of a pot scrubber. The detail is incredible and the the lighting gives a 3-D effect. Way up there in my vote.

No idea what it is, but I like the colors and crisp detail. Well shot.

No idea what this is. If I was forced to guess I'd go with beehive, but I don't think that's correct. Makes a very attractive photo though.

Thank you very much all for the great comments :-) .

Ysal - You're the closest so far with 'some sort of plant material'!

Jade O - Sorry for both my entries being 'documentary shots'.

Whatever it is, as interesting as the structure is, it is a good documentary shot but does not appeal to me as an artistic photograph. It is technically well executed.

whatever it is, it's an impressive photo, great job of controlling the lighting and sharpness.

Some sort of plant material, I imagine. The lighting in the back makes all the difference in this shot, IMHO. Great job.

Can't imagine what it is, but intriguing. Not a regular pattern like a fabric. I like the color combination. It looks like it was lit from front and back giving it that golden glow.
